This business centre in Birtley was used as a First World War munitions factory, used by Belgium to make weapons for the war front. 6,000 wounded Belgian soldiers were brought here to work, in a part of Gateshead that was actually a Belgian colony for several years. To find out more, contact them via their Facebook page, Northern Hope Gymnastics Centre.
