Dead Air
There is a tip of headland outside of Bergen where executions were carried out. Nordnes was the spot where burnings took place at the height of Norway’s witch trials, including the site where the notorious Anne Pedersdotter, a high profile ‘witch’ whom is said to have met the Devil in the Fjords and brought misery to the people of Bergen. False Margaret was also executed here, as was a woman who is said to have had the ability to wreck ships coming in from sea. And it wasn’t just witches - up until the 19th century, beheadings were carried out here, and the execution spot was transformed into a fortress so that these killings could be done with more privacy. It’s no surprise then that this eerie park, at the tip of the headland is so eerie at night. Are there any spirits still in Nordnes? It’s also worth mentioning that the church that buried the victims was mysteriously burned down and built over with housing, so those unmarked graves are still in Nordnes.
