Most Haunted
HMP Gloucester
Karl Beattie and Stuart Torevell embark on one of their toughest investigations at the now abandoned prison in Gloucester, where staff and inmates have reported paranormal activity. HM Prison Gloucester in the West of England opened in 1791 to house some of the UK's most notorious criminals. In the prison's early days over 100 executions were carried out, the prisoners bodies were buried within the prison, to this day not all have been found. So with this gruesome tale in mind I thought the now-abandoned jail was worth a visit. Karl described the prison, that closed in 2013 as "one of the scariest places on the night we investigated. So much stuff happened and I was petrified at one stage. "During the investigation the pair witnessed some of the loudest and most terrifying bangs they'd ever experienced on an investigation. Could they have tapped into the same hauntings that staff and prisoners have reported? Many witnesses claim to have heard knocks and bangs throughout the prison's buildings, as well and slamming doors. Shadowy figures have also been sighted, mostly in C Wing, a newer part of the prison that was built in the 1970s.
